Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Hofmann
studied at the University of Stuttgart civil engineering. In 2004 he
received his Doctor degree in civil Engineering from the University of
Stuttgart, Institute for construction material with the doctoral thesis:
“Load-bearing behavior and design of fasteners close to an edge under
shear loading in an arbitrary angel to the edge”. From 2006 to 2009 he
was head of the research department for steel anchor, sanitary fixing
and advanced curtain wall systems of the company fischer in Tumlingen.
In 2009 Jan Hofmann became professor and head of the department of
fastening and strengthening methods at the IWB at the University of
Stuttgart. In his research he focuses on the issues of load-bearing
behavior of mechanical and chemical fastenings in concrete, masonry and
other bases materials as well as reinforcing systems. Another special
focus is the load-bearing behavior and the calculation of cast-in-place
systems in concrete. Therefore the main focus in his research is the
link between fastening, strengthening and adhesive technologies.
